There is something timeless about a Martin HD-28, and this Custom Shop build takes that classic recipe and gives it just a little extra personality. In Excellent Condition, there are a few light scratches on the top by the bass side of the bridge, on the treble side of the back and normal pickguard wear. There are a couple scuffs on the treble side, and a small amount of finish flaking on the lower sides of the headstock. The bearclaw Sitka spruce top immediately stands out, adding visual character while delivering the powerful, articulate response that players expect from a great dreadnought. Paired with East Indian rosewood back and sides, the result is that unmistakable Martin sound. Big piano-like bass, rich overtones, and the kind of projection that fills a room without effort.

The herringbone trim and zig-zag backstrip tie this guitar directly to the pre-war heritage that made the HD-28 legendary. Forward-shifted scalloped bracing allows the top to move freely, giving the guitar a wide dynamic range that works beautifully for both aggressive flatpicking and a lighter touch.
