The Story

This beautiful aged Atkin acoustic immediately leans into that old-world vibe that the brand does so well, but with a voice that feels lively and ready to play right now. In Very Good Condition, it has one professionally repaired crack on the neck. Built with a baked Sitka spruce top and maple back and sides, this guitar blends pre-war inspiration with Atkin’s unmistakable British character. The aged nitrocellulose lacquer, pearloid binding, and banner-style headstock decal give it a broken-in look that feels authentic rather than manufactured, like a guitar that already has a few songs in it.

The sound is quick, clear, and incredibly focused. The baked Sitka top responds easily, giving the guitar a dry, articulate attack, while the maple body keeps everything tight and defined with excellent note separation. Pre-war scalloped bracing allows the top to move freely, so the guitar stays responsive. Chords have a crisp edge that cuts cleanly, and single notes pop with clarity, making it a great fit for rootsy strumming, bluesy leads, or old-time inspired playing.

In the hands, it feels comfortable and familiar right away. The shorter 24 7/8 inch scale length, 1 11/16 inch nut width, and 16 inch fingerboard radius create an easy, relaxed playing experience, while the ebony fingerboard and bridge keep the response snappy and precise. Bone nut and saddle, nickel Kluson tuners, and a two-way adjustable truss rod round out a build that balances vintage feel with modern dependability.
